K2 Meter
The K2 Meter (aka KII Meter) has been used for hunting ghosts for a while, but was made popular by the TV show, "Ghost Hunters." K2 meters are easy to use for ghost hunting. These meters measure various levels of EMF (ElectroMagnetic Fields) that are present in a given area. High EMF levels do not necessarily indicate the presence of a ghost, as any electrical object, such as wiring, can give off EMF. If EMF is being given off by an object, you can locate the object by following the EMF until it reaches its peak. If the level of EMF holds steady, and is constantly found in the same location over different periods of time, then the source is not paranormal.
However, when levels of EMF come and go, and there is no known explanation for the EMF levels, then the EMF could be caused by ghosts or spirits.
Many newer models of K2 meters come with on/off switches. Older models tend not to. Sure, it's nice to have an on/off switch on your kii meter, but it will cost you more. If you want to save some money, buy a meter that does not have a switch. You can do what Jason and Grant from TAPS do: insert a coin to keep constant pressure on the switch pad. Simple as that!
It can be difficult finding a place to purchase a K2 meter, especially near and in the month of October. Amazon has a great selection of meters, and you can compare prices to find the best meter for your budget. Check out the K2 Meters available at Amazon.
Here is a video of someone demonstrating how he uses a dime to work his K-2 meter:
The K2 Meter became popular among novice ghost hunters after the crew of TAPS, so it should be no surprise that this is arguably one of the most popular tools for ghost hunters these days.
